Classroom Roof Repair of Poor Rural School
Project cost: $3,400
Project name: Trinidad School
Community: Village of Dorado, Tela
Community Need – The Challenge
Poverty-stricken village children are unable to utilize the classrooms at the rural school due to extensive roof leaks and rotting windows. The children are unable to attend school during times of rain. There has been no regular maintenance at the school in the last twenty years because of lack of funds.
Hands to Honduras Response
Hands to Honduras will supply roofing materials, windows and doors as required.
Community Participation
Community has offered enthusiastic support to do whatever it takes to make this project a success.
Project Thoughts & Considerations
“With a new roof, the children will not be exposed to the rain and hot sun.” The completion of this project will allow the children to attend school during the heavy rainy season.
This project was submitted by a local TV station which has been very supportive to the Hands to Honduras projects. The station has provided immeasurable help in publicizing the positive outcomes of past projects.
