Tela-Gram 13

September 4 , 2007

This is a mini version Tela-gram….just to get some dates on your calendar!
Important Dates:

Saturday, September 15 – Harvest Fest, Shelburne Farms, 10:00am – 4:00pm

• Fundraiser for Hands to Honduras – Tela. We will have a picture exhibition and food booth at the Farm Barn at Shelburne Farms Harvest Fest. Vermont-made candy will be the specialty that we will sell along with bottled water and kid friendly (healthy) drinks. Several of you have already signed up to make rice crispy treats – thank you - we have enough now for that category. For other donations – can you make fudge, lollipops. Or if you are friends with one of the area candy companies, you could ask them to donate to our cause. (We have already asked Champlain Chocolate.)

• Please email (lindaggilbert@excite.com or lindaggilbert@gmail.com) or call 425-3838 with what you will donate – home-made candy; local vendor candy; bottled water to sell; kid friendly (natural) juice boxes, decorative bags to put the candy it, etc. Donations may be dropped by Friday morning, September 14.at Colleen’s office in Shelburne (or for those in the Charlotte/Ferrisburg area – at Linda’s house in lower Charlotte).

• We will have a candy wrapping session Friday, September 14 at the Shelburne Town Center. An email will be sent next week to confirm the time. Please help if you can….what could possibly be more fun than wrapping candy??

• Norm will run another 50-50 raffle. He had good success at Shelburne Day!

• Also, you are welcome to help out with the booth – set up, talk to people, help sell, clean up. An hour or two is fun and you will see many people you know….please email the time you could help. If you have never visited the Harvest Fest – it is a “chance to celebrate autumnal abundance with family and friends, listen to marvelous music, enjoy delicious seasonal foods, visit the animals in the farmyard” etc. etc.
Sunday, October 14, Community Presentation for Donors and Volunteers, 4:00pm -6:00pm, Shelburne Town Center
This is a Thank You event for all of the Donors and Volunteers who are involved and/or interested in the Vermont Hands to Honduras – Tela program. It will include:
• A short 20 minute picture presentation and picture board tables and Honduran treasures
• Project accomplishments - volunteers – if you would like to share an interesting experience you had at a project, please do!
• Volunteer information – for the upcoming January-February ’08 trip
• Projects for 2008
• Our fundraising efforts
• and always food - Light appetizers, desserts and beverages
Update on Shelburne Day Fundraiser, August 18, 2007
• Good news – over $700 was raised. This was only possible because many of you donated delicious baked goods to sell. Thank you H2H volunteers and thank you Charlotte-Shelburne Rotary.
• The H2H booth was filled with scrumptious homemade baked goods which sold pretty quickly! The bbq corn was unbeatable, McKenzie hot dogs were popular. The wind was a little brisk but the rain held off, and it was a fun day. Many people were very interested in the program, and it was fun that so many already know about H2H!
